Broken Stories

Collaboratively written and devised by Sydney Green (Lead Deviser and Editor), Audrey Senior (directing), Ferdinand Moscat, Matthew Fischer, and Nadel Henderson

Developed June 2021

What do our histories look like when torn up and stitched back together? Broken Stories is a collection of monologues, each written by an individual collaborator, that were then interwoven to create a dialogue on the very mechanisms of language, storytelling, and meaning itself. Sydney, as lead deviser, selected segments, cut-offs, repetitions, and the like to craft a narrative that is fragmented but weighty in its fragmentation, acknowledging the tension between wholeness and otherness that we inhabit. Because at its core Broken Stories is a collaborative musing on the constant re-construction of how we tell our own and others’ stories, grappling with the togetherness that is central to our individuality as human beings in a deeply lonely world.
